Clare Chu has been active in the field of Chinese snuff bottles for over thirty years, initially in London and presently in Los Angeles. She is a long-time member of the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society and has served on the Board twice, each for five years. Clare is also a member of Snuff Bottle Collectors of California, where she presently serves on the Board. She is a dealer, consultant at auction, lecturer, and has published many articles, catalogues and books on snuff bottles. Clare published the first E-book on Chinese snuff bottles to be found at www.thecranecollection.com. She is currently teaching on the MA Art Business Program at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Los Angeles.
Michael Chu comes from a family of collectors in Shanghai, where he was born. He studied painting and calligraphy from the age of nine until he was sixteen, when he moved to the States. Michael transferred from a career in mid-century and art deco furniture, establishing himself as a dealer in Chinese art and in particular in literati objects. He is a long-time member of the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society and a member of Snuff Bottle Collectors of California. Michael is a dealer, consultant at auction and has published a number of catalogues on Chinese works of art. He is an accomplished photographer in his field. Most recently, Michael led a guided tour of Cave Temples of Dunhuang: Buddhist Art on China’s Silk Road at the Getty Center for Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Los Angeles.
